# Keyword Research

The Pinsearch Keyword Finder is probably one of the most useful features of the tool.

It not only helps you find keywords and keyword variations, it also gives you important keyword matrices to decide which keywords are worth going after and which are too hard to waste time on.

The Keyword Finder module works much like any other Keyword research tool.

If you have used SEO tools like Ahrefs or Semrush, you will feel right at home using Keyword Finder.

Keyword finder pulls search autocomplete suggestions directly from Pinterest so whatever keyword suggestion you might see, it is coming directly from the Pinterest platform.

However, we do affix and suffix different modifiers to the seed keyword to generate more ideas.

Lets go over the module and see how we can best utilize it to find easy to rank yet popular keywords on Pinterest.

**Using the Keyword Finder Tool**

Lets start with an example, say we have a vegan diet and recipes blog and are going to publish something related to preparing vegan meals.

**Step 1:** We will start with a broad keyword like "*Vegan*" and see what search suggestions we get. The Keyword Finder will list down all the variations of the seed keyword along with important keyword metrics like search volume, ranking difficulty, popularity on Pinterest and how the keyword has been trending for past 12 months.

**Step-2:** Once you get a list of all the possible keyword variations for the seed keyword, you can use different filters to drill down and find the most profitable keywords to target.

Here are some of the filtered values you can use:

* Search Volume - shows the estimated search volume of the keyword taken from clickstream data.
* Difficulty - how difficult the keyword is compared to others in the list.
* Trend - a 12-month search volume graph showing the demand of the keyword during different seasons and months.
* Group - a cluster of similar intent keywords.

**Step-3:** Once you have selected keywords that have good enough volume but still not too difficult to rank for, you can then the seasonality of the keyword using the Trends. Click on the small graph icon in the trends column to open a modal that shows a month-on-month search volume graph.

|
The seasonality trend will give you a good idea of which keywords to target during specific months. In above example, the term "Vegan recipes" has higher search during January followed by a moderate search throughout the rest of the year.

Step-4: Once you analyze your shortlisted keywords and finalized them, you can then go ahead and add them to a Project to save and view them later when you sit down to create content.
|
